The City Prolific: Weekend Events March 23 & 24

I haven't been doing much lately, other than exploring my new 'hood, (and admiring its old facades like that above), doing homework, and training for a marathon.  But there's some fun stuff around town that you ought to go do.

SATURDAY, MARCH 23

ALL WEEKEND

Lebowski Fest

It's Lebowski Fest, and although the price point on this is a little higher than the events I usually post, this is an L.A. bucket list event. That said, I've never been. But I will some year, I promise.

Catch the film on the big screen and follow it up with some bowling, trivia, costume contests, and, of course, White Russians.

The Friday night film screening will feature music by the Kyle Gass Band (of Tenacious D fame), and actors from the film will make appearances throughout the weekend; Philip Moon (Woo the carpet pisser) and Lu Elrod (family waitress) are among the confirmed guests. And everyone will be on the lookout for The Dude (I hear he shows up from time to time).

Movie $20-25, Bowling $25 in advance, $30 same day

7pm

Saban Theatre

8440 Wilshire Blvd
Los Angeles

Selected Shorts

Your favorite actors (Robert Sean Leonard and Leonard Nimoy, Yay!) perform stories about the pleasures and travails of all the things we love to do—from baking to ballroom dancing, card playing to movie watching, and knitting to sex. $20 ($15 students/seniors)
